Dire warning: ‘Revolution is nigh’

Qadri says he will seek revenge from those responsible for Model Town killings.

The revolution is not far off, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri said on Wednesday. “It will happen within the year.”

He was addressing party workers who were injured in Model Town on June 17. Qadri said he would not leave the country before the revolution took place.

He said he would exact revenge from policemen and the government for targeting his party workers. He said none of the people injure in the incident would accept compensation or security from the government. He said policemen should leave their profession if they wanted to keep the faith. The days of the present government were numbered and the policemen who did not quit their job would soon face the music. “If policemen value their safety, they must quit.”

Speaking to citizens, he said they must take part in the revolution if they wanted to keep their faith intact. “After the revolution happens, I will exact revenge from all those responsible for the torture of PAT workers.”

Qadri said he would erect a monument at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat to commemorate those killed.

He urged PAT workers to set up monuments all over the country to remember the fallen. He said the pictures and names of the deceased workers would be engraved on the monuments. Workers will regularly place garlands around these monuments and light candles next to them every evening.

Qadri said the heirs of those deceased would be given jobs at Minhajul Quran Institute. Concrete security barriers have once again been placed on the roads leading to Qadri’s residence.
