Creating Awareness: Seminar on ovarian cancer held

The Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (INMOL) organised a symposium on ovarian cancer on Friday. Several experts from local and regional hospitals attended the seminar. The symposium was organised to mark INMOL’s three-decade long association with Roche and the Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncologists. INMOL Director Dr Abu Bakr Shahid said Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission was operating 18 hospitals across Pakistan, of which INMOL was one of the largest. Ghurki Trust Hospital Head of Surgery Nabila Shami informed the audience that ovarian cancer killed over 9,000 women annually. Hameed Lateef Consultant Oncologist Dr Zeba Aziz lectured the gathering on the recurrence of ovarian cancer and how it could be best managed. She urged doctors to foster awareness about the disease.
