PESHAWAR:

A Pushto artiste, who worked in dramas as a singer and dancer, was shot dead inside her house in Gulberg late Wednesday night.

Police said four armed men entered Gulnaz Muskan’s house and sprayed her with bullets, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital but died on the way.

“Muskan was a resident of Par Hoti, Mardan but was currently living in Gulberg. She was a small-scale Pashto singer whose work appeared in local dramas,” said an official of the Gulberg police station while talking to The Express Tribune.

“Soon after the attack, police reached the site and arrested a suspect who is presently being interrogated by the police,” he informed. Terrorists or target killers were unlikely to be behind the incident although the family told police Muskan had no personal feud with anyone, he added. The victim’s relatives have not nominated anyone in the FIR.

Talking to The Express Tribune, the owner of a music store said Muskan was not a singer at all. “She was a dancer who worked and danced in CD dramas and had probably worked in not more than four dramas,” he said, adding her murder has nothing to do with target killings or militancy.

“She performed in shows and normally such girls have many admirers who not only fight each other but also target the girls out of jealousy,” he explained.
