The local administration had claimed that they would provide the pilgrims with cold water and make other necessary arrangements for them. However, Express News reports that this has not been done.
Hundreds of thousands of people, mainly from the Punjab and Sindh, visit the small town of Sehwan during the urs celebrations of the Sufi saint. The 762nd urs has attracted between 500,000 to 600,000 visitors according to unofficial estimates.
At least 12 people had died on Wednesday, according to the medical superintendent of Sehwan taluka hospital, Dr Moinuddin Siddiqi who said that all of the victims, except one, had died due to heat stroke. The mercury had peaked at 46 degrees centigrade. The Met office has forecasted the temperatures to remain as high for the next few days.

@Sami
I have been myself there and found ppl, asking help from these saints, prostrating there and many other "shirks"
@Sami: I think if you are not aware of anything that happens there than you should not comment on what should they do and what not. They devotees don't go there to ask of anything but this is merely for their mental satisfaction. The Saint is just like a teacher who shows the way. And for all others please stop this nonsense when you don't know anything about it. You should keep on doing what you want to do. Do not spread hatred or religious discrimination.
Sad to learn about the loss of 53 lives... Now where are the pseudo-intellectual trolls of Imran Khan, Shiekh Rasheed, Mush and TUQ to raise their voices??
Ask from Allah only!
Millions of Rs are gathered through charity and donations each year from these shrines, but their custodians usually digest the entire sum. Ventilation, air cooling, cool water, fresh food, crowd management and other fundamental facilities on such occasions are as mystic and rare in such sacrosanct places for the visitors as those saints. And no government would ever bother to make some crowd management regulations because most of those custodians are integral part of governments.
What is the purpose of these "urs celebrations"? Nothing can be achieved through this. One should always look to Allah for anything he/she needs..
Expecting any kind of deliverance from PPP is absurd. People of urban Sindh should know that what happened under Musharraf and Mustafa Kamal's 5 year tenure is all the development they'd get for the next 50 years.
