
Leading pros from around the country will feature in the 19th edition of the tournament that will carry a prize purse of Rs5.9 million.
Apart from this, the first hole-in-one during the championship (professionals) will be rewarded with a brand new Toyota Fortuner worth Rs5.7 million.
The opening ceremony of the event was held at the club on Tuesday, where Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Khawaja Ghazanfar teed off on the course.
The competition is open to various categories which includes an 18-hole match for the KGC caddies, the junior events, ladies and seniors, nine-hole match for veterans and 72-hole match for all professionals, senior professionals and amateurs.
Meanwhile, last year’s winner, Waheed Baloch, is optimistic about defending his title and is expecting to face a stiff challenge from other leading golfers of the country.
“I have been practicing since a long time and will do my best to defend the title,” he said.
“More than 100 pros will take part in this championship, but fitness and stamina will matter a lot in this hot weather.”
