Bar welfare : LBA to mull finance secretary’s licence suspension

LAHORE:

The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) planned to call a meeting on Monday (today) to decide whether or not to send a reference to the Punjab Bar Council seeking cancellation of LBA finance secretary’s licence on misconduct charges.

LBA president Chaudhry Ishtiaq said Finance Secretary Fareedul Haq Chishti had called a meeting and a strike without taking the LBA into confidence. He said the meeting would also talk about forming a committee of former LBA presidents to probe Chishti’s allegations of funds embezzlement. Last week, Ishtiaq had announced Chishti had been suspended for “taking steps counter to the welfare of LBA”.
