Tightening security: Army to be deployed in Islamabad

Army personnel will also be deployed on all routes leading to the the Red Zone.

Pakistan Army troops are being deployed in the federal capital from today (Sunday) in the wake of threats of possible terrorist attacks, Express News reported.



According to Islamabad police sources, two companies, comprising 250 soldiers, will be deployed to beef up security in the federal capital.


The security of the red zone and other sensitive offices and buildings is being tightened, they said.


The Diplomatic Enclave is among the parts of the federal capital where army troops will take up security responsibilities.


Army personnel will also be deployed on all routes leading to the the Red Zone.


Meanwhile, it has been decided that the Rangers will patrol the Margala Hills round the clock.
