FAISALABAD: The police on Thursday claimed to have killed a man suspected of robbery in a shoot out near Gulberg police station. His accomplice managed to flee. City Police Officer Haidar Ashraf told newsmen that Gulberg SHO Muhammad Siddique and his team were patrolling the area and signalled two suspicious-looking men on a motorbike to stop. He said instead of stopping, the men shot at the police team and tried to flee. He said the police chased them to Raja Colony where they were cornered and asked to surrender. The CPO said the men then fled to the fields nearby and hid in them. They also shot at the police. He said one of them was killed when the police shot back while the other managed to flee under the cover of darkness. The police took the injured man to a hospital where later he died of his injuries. The police seized a pistol, two mobile phones and a motorbike. The city police officer said a police team had been formed to find the other man.
