Addressing the media, Nisar reiterated that the federal government had issued the Sindh government six alerts for a possible threat at the old terminal of the airport.
In March, he further said, the provincial government was warned about the lapse in security at the terminal where the attack took place, and that the gates were likely to be targeted by terrorists.
However, the Sindh government took no action after the warnings, the interior minister said.
He also said that the police were responsible for the city's security.
On Wednesday, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said that the Karachi airport attack took place due to the failure of the Airport Security Force (ASF).
The interior minister also said that the Sindh government's accusation that members of the federal government were unavailable during the time of the incident were incorrect, adding that the federal government, in fact, was searching for members of the Sindh government Sunday night.
Nisar also said that these are tough times and that the federal and provincial governments should work together.

Shame on Punjabi leaders for the way they treat Sindh.
Punjab must realize that there is more to country than just Punjab. At least stop stealing from Sindh if all you care about is your province. The whole country has become Punjabistan because of the greed of Punjab.
@Rex Minor: Are you feeling alright? Do you need to see a doctor? Are you taking your daily medications?
Pot calling the kettle black. Blaming each other on their mutual failure.
@Umer:
I don't know which political pundit you been listening that Karachi produces 70% of the revenue. Above is from Wikipedia that Karachi produces around 50% of the revenue collected, and half of that is collection is from Customs duty and Sales tax on imports. In reality, customs duty and sales tax on imports is the stuff that is being brought in by people from all over the country. So really you shouldn't count that when you talk about revenue that Karachi generates.
Please think of Pakistan above everything else as without that no one will survive.
Although fact remains that Lahore has more policemen than Karachi. And then we expect Karachi to be a safe city. Height of being naive
@Umer: These feduals of PPP have done nothing good for the province or the country, nor they have will or even potential. If they reduce the protocols they all enjoy by half, Karachi could be far safe without any additional support from federal govt.
@Umer: But the Federal Government is funding the operation through the Rangers, which is being controlled by the Sindh Government, which is interested only in a selective operation. So why blame the Federal Government? Given the alerts provided to the Provincial Government, had the CM been vigilant he could have preempted the attack on the airport but that is too much to expect from him or his team. After the 18th Amendment, the Federation's power of local security have been drastically curtailed.
If Punjab and federal government will be easy on extremists like they are now, and if federal government will take away most of revenue from Sindh to divert to Punjab, security forces and federal government then how is Sindh responsible for these acts of terrorism? Either Sindh keeps its revenue and provides security for itself, or the federal government and security forces who get the bulk of revenue need to accept responsibility.
Sindh Govt and PPP should be absolved of their duties and responsibilities towards security, economy, health or anything else. They are known for their commission and corruption. Let them loot till Karachi breathes its last.
Altaf calls for the Fed Govt to support Army's action against the terrorists. This action should include also those that are terrorizing Karachi regardless of political affiliation.
The Karachi Operation is being conducted with the CM of Sindh calling shots. Since it seems to have been selective it did only focus mainly on the opponents of the Sindh govt. Only an operation under the Army is likely to be free of selective bias.
OMG, these are Pakistani rulers, playing with public, blame each other, they are killers, they dont feel shy OMG, they dont have to face Allah These are the worst people , I saw in my entire life. God punish them in their life...
Should Sindh raise its own army then to fight terrorism if federal agencies and security forces wont do it despite getting all that revenue from Sindh?
@ModiFied: lottery is the only way to select to whom they can blame. because its too completed and undecided!!!!
Ch Nisar blames Sindh government Sindh government blames federal government Hafiz Saeed blames India TTP blames USA for killing their leader Whom should a common helpless Pakistani blame ????????
When will we see some heads rolling? That's never possible in Pakistan. You beat, trash, trample, squash, squeeze, smash their heads and still all is well in the government. Seven precious lives could have been saved, but even the Home Minister does know what's going on while addressing a press conference.
Sinned government does whats it's meant for i.e. All Out Corruption. It can not be blamed for responsibilities that do not fall within its job perimeter
And we blame our bad luck and election commission for having u guys running our govt. All Federal & provincial govts have failed miserably . Admit it and submit your resignations. Shayad qaum phir thoree izzat kar lay.
these both PMLN and PPP are curse to the nation
It was only a day ago when he requested everyone, on the floor of the house, to refrain from blame game and point scoring........
Waziristhan attacking Sindh, Punjab stealing electricity and resources from the rest, Balochistan on its way to freedom,Imran Khan leading a Pakthoon movement, Mohajirs plotting for a state within a state.Ya Allah, what a climax.
Why are we giving 700 billion to security forces, most of it coming from Sindh, if fighting against foreign and Punjabi terrorists is Sindh’s responsibility? Sindh should be able to hold on to 70% of the revenue it generates if it is to do the job of the security forces, and Punjab and federal governments.
Tit for tat. Riposte after riposte. Thrust and parry. That is what is going on in DEMONCRAZY Pakistan. Hollywood please make a Pakistani lampoon. It will be an immediate box office hit and will earn the producer / director billions. (Even a primary school student knows he has homework to complete). Salams
Now here starts the blame game again! Instead of Sorry or Shame
We don't want to know who is specifically responsible, as a whole we know you are the Government! (who is completely responsible for the lame strategy, false promises, unwilling spirit, foolish planning for the Pakistani Citizens)
We have selected and voted you to serve us, make our dream come true, stabilize peace and harmony not for pointing fingers here and there to save your parties.
For GOD sake do not think as a political party, enough now, think as a Pakistani!
We were warning you to take action against the terrorists within the Waziristan area, and their nurseries in south Punjab, instead of allowing them sanctuaries, and safe passage to the urban areas.
