Snooker: Majeed registers 4-0 win in Asian U21 championship

Muhammad Majeed Ali followed up his excellent start with another victory as he defeated UAE’s Obaid Al-Mehairi Badar 4-0 on the second day of the 15th Asian Snooker U21 Championship 2014 in Chandigarh on Sunday.


Majeed outclassed Badar 72-9, 78-24, 65-15, 65-40 in the Group B match, which also features Iran’s Sanjai Amin and Syria’s Yazan Hadad.


Meanwhile, another Pakistani cueist Haris Nadeem lost 4-2 to Malaysia’s Sheldon Sengang in Group A. Nadeem took the opening two frames 63-36, 89-49, but Shengang hit back in the third 75-7 with a break of 54. The Malaysian then achieved scores of 78-43, 63-56, 63-38 in the remaining frames to win.


Former national champion Hamza Akbar also lost a marathon match against Thailand’s Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon 4-3 in Group E, while India’s Ishpreet Chiewchan defeated Amir Tariq 4-2 in Group F.
