KHAR: Two soldiers died in separate roadside blasts near the Pak-Afghan border in Bajaur Agency.

“Two soldiers embraced shahadat (martyrdom) in Bajaur in separate improvised explosive device blasts,” said Abdul Malik, a political administration official at a Nawagai Sub Division.

He added that the IED blast took place in Bara Kamangara and Chaharmang areas of Nawagai. “After the blasts the political administration carried out a search operation in the area and detained five suspects under the collective responsibility clause of FCR,” he added.

The devices were planted along the roadside in the Bara Kamangara area and near a Pakistani security outpost on Pak-Afghan border, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations.

Bajaur Agency shares a border with the Afghan province of Kunar and has seen an uptick in attacks on military and paramilitary forces in the past few weeks.
