Bank heist: Robbers loot cash, injure two guards

The men snatched mobile phones from the bank staff and customers, said the manager.

ABBOTTABAD: Armed robbers looted cash and valuables from a bank in broad daylight at Link Road on Friday. Habib Bank Link Road Branch Manager Shehzad told the police five unidentified men barged inside the bank at noon after overpowering two security guards. They took Rs800,000 from the cash counter and Rs39,000 from a vault. The men also snatched mobile phones from the bank staff and customers, said the manager. He shared the robbers were speaking Pashto. Cantt SHO Gulzara Khan said the culprits hit the two guards, Zahoor and Waheedur Rehman, on their heads with pistol grips and decamped with the money after locking the bank door from outside. Khan said CCTV footage of the robbers has been collected which should help the police in catching them.
