FAISALABAD:

The police on Thursday claimed to have established that the alleged abduction of a 12 year-old boy by some of his father’s rivals was a ruse to grab property.

Jaranwala City SHO Nadeem Hayat told The Express Tribune that they received a complaint from the boy’s father Muhammad Anwar on Wednesday that his son Shehzad Anwar had been abducted by three people; Dr Abdus Shakoor, Irshad Ahmad and Safdar Ali. He said some relatives had traced the boy to one of Muhammad Anwar’s friends’ house. Hayat said they raided Muhammad Ashraf’s house and found Anwar there. Ashraf said that the boy had not been abducted.

“When we spoke to the boy, he too confirmed that he had not been abducted by anyone and was only visiting his father’s friend,” he said. He said they spoke to Dr Shakoor and others nominated in the FIR. They told police that Anwar had tried to frame them so he could grab their property.
