In an interview with TV show Entertainment Tonight Canada, he said: “A lot of people say, ‘But Rick, kids, they need stability. I’m their stability... They were born on the road, so they come with me everywhere and they like it.”
“If they spend too much time in the same place, they go, ‘Dad, what’s next?’ They’ve been to every museum in the world, they’ve been to every zoo in the world, so they’re having a good time,” he said.
The singer, who is a single father responsible for both the 5 year olds, says it isn’t “difficult” to raise children all by himself. He gives his five-year-old twin sons “a lot of love” and enjoys their life together.
Asked if being a single parent is tough, he said: “I don’t know anything else, so this is the journey that I embarked myself into. I made the decision to bring my kids into this world and it hasn’t been difficult at all. My kids have a lot of love.”
The 42 year old has recently released his latest single Vida. He says it took a while for his sons to approve the track. “With my latest single Vida, when we started working on it they were just not listening. And then we did some fixes, rearranged it and then all of a sudden, they were like ‘Oh!’ and now it’s all about, ‘Daddy, are you going to sing Vida?” he said.
Martin got famous at the age of 12 when he became a member of the band Menudo and he hopes at least one of his sons will follow in his footsteps and become a musician. “They have something. They have something going on. It’s very beautiful to see my kids playing drums, with a beat,” he said.
