Budget 2014-15: ‘Rs260b allocated for energy projects’

LAHORE: Planning, Development and Reforms Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Saturday Rs260 billion had been allocated for energy projects in the upcoming budget. Addressing a press conference in Model Town, he said a handsome amount had been allocated in the Rs525 billion budget for the improvement of social sector. He said Rs191 billion had been allocated for the transport sector; Rs112 billion would be spent on highways and Rs39 billion on the uplift of Pakistan Railways. The federal government had earmarked Rs12.5 billion to help achieve the millennium development goals, he said. He said Vision 2025 focusing on seven areas had been approved. These are water, energy and food security, economic revival with focus on mobilising indigenous resources, development of human and social capital, infrastructure development, value addition of industrial economy and the agriculture sector, institutional reforms and promotion of the private sector.“The aim of Vision 2025 is to align ourselves with the future challenges and opportunities.”

This allocation is illegal and unconstitutional- federal government cant do it as power and energy is a provincial subject-CM sindh surrendered several powers of sindh as federating unit in CCI including energy and power sectors-
