
The encounter took place in Lyari's Kalri locality when the police and Rangers conducted a raid at the gangsters' hideout on a tip-off. DSP Murtaza Mirani while talking to The Express Tribune said that during the exchange of fire, one gangster was killed while a companion of his managed to escape under the cover of firing. The body of the deceased was taken to Civil hospital where he was identified as Jalil aka Bullet.
DSP Mirani said that Jalil was associated with the Mullah Nisar gang and was the operational commander of his group. Police officials also claimed that the deceased was wanted by the police in several criminal cases and added that weapons were recovered from his possession. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed to have apprehended two suspects, Sameer and Abdul Jabbar. According to SIU chief SP Farooq Awan, the arrests were made during a targeted raid in Surjani. Awan added that the suspects were involved in various crimes and that weapons were recovered from their possession.
The Ferozabad police arrested the leader of a cash-snatching gang, Abdullah aka Abid, who is a dismissed policeman. Abdullah was arrested during a raid in PECHS and weapons and narcotics were also found in his possession. SHO Safdar Mashwani said that Abdullah was wanted in over a dozen cases of cash-snatching and police encounters in various police stations of the city, including Darakshan, Defence, Clifton, Frere, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Aziz Bhatti and Ferozabad.
Meanwhile, the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) claimed to have recovered a girl from SITE's Metroville area. According to CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, the girl went missing a couple of days ago and CPLC officials managed to trace and recover her after they were approached by her family.
