Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali, Shah has constituted a three-member committee to meet the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Fapuasa) to decide the recruitment procedure for the posts of registrar and controller of public-sector universities.
The committee is headed by Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and includes the provincial education secretary and the universities and boards secretary. The spokesperson for CM House said the government will issue the corrigendum in newspapers on Sunday, referring to an earlier advertisement by the provincial government to appoint the registrars, controllers and finance directors at 20 universities in the province.
The advertisement triggered widespread protests by universities' teachers in Sindh, who boycotted all academic activities after Fapuasa's call.
The provincial government will announce in the corrigendum that the finance director will still be appointed by the provincial government but the other positions are to be filled with a procedure that will be framed by the committee and the Fapuasa during meetings.
