“Over tea at Sajjan Jindals… Met Nawaz Sharif yesterday. Delighted that he is fan of Kaifi saab, Lataji and Mohd Rafi,” Shabana posted on Twitter.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recently spent an afternoon with veteran actor Shabana Azmi at a private tea party.  The exclusive occasion was hosted by the steel tycoon Sajjan Jindal in Delhi.  Nawaz Sharif expressed immense admiration for Shabana’s father, Kaifi Azmi, Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. He also requested Shabana to visit Pakistan along with her husband Javed Akhtar and inquired if there was a way he could invite Lata and Amitabh as well.

“Over tea at Sajjan Jindals… Met Nawaz Sharif yesterday. Delighted that he is fan of Kaifi saab, Lataji and Mohd Rafi,” Shabana posted on Twitter.

They two further discussed the cultural exchanges India and Pakistan share as well as the film industry as a combined entity.

“I said we need Indo-Pak co-productions… Nawaz Sharif said he gives his full support for films as co-productions between India and Pakistan. He brings message of peace and encourages exchanges,” added Shabana.

On having suggested that India and Pakistan must share cinematic space, Shabana insisted on the need for co-productions to be encouraged. Nawaz Sharif taking this idea positively, asked if such attempts have been made in past.

@Rama Rao K: That's right; In India women whether they are Muslim or Hindu wear saris and bindis because it is Indian culture. I have seen that in the West, Indian Muslim women also wear saris and bindis.

@lol- even if ONE woman is harmed or killed then you and other MALES either from INDIA or PAKISTAN dare not utter these words " women rights are pretty much decent..." Stop with the flimsy excuses that the rural populations are grim reminders....tell it to the families of the girls...hanged & RAPED in India and the woman who was STONED by her family members in Pakistan! It is the duty of each one of us to make sure these sad incident NEVER occur, but all I see is loads of excuses and no protective measures to abolish the caste system in India and the stone age of the definition of honor killings in Pakistan. So spare us all these morbid excuses that do not change these cultural/religious way of thinking that continue to this day!
