Emerging markets: Pakistan, Africa gear up for business

Third African Show held to boost bilateral trade.

LAHORE: Gearing towards becoming a hub, Pakistan and Africa are stepping up efforts to engage in financial opportunities. The third Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)-Africa Show on Wednesday attracted a large number of people including businessmen, government functionaries and politicians.

The show – an exhibition and conference – continued the entire day to satiate information needs of those who intend to do business with the African Union. Members of the African Union that participated in the exhibition included Sudan, Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Mauritius, Morocco, South Africa, Somalia, Kenya and Libya.



“The interaction with foreign ambassadors working in Pakistan is a prerequisite to increase business with the world,” said Provincial Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman.

He said the African region has great potential along with having a number of untapped markets therefore, the Pakistani business community should join hands with their African counterparts in the larger interests of people living in Pakistan and Africa.

“The African Union has moved on the path of political, economic, social and cultural development of the African countries,” said Dean of African Group and Ambassador of Algeria Ahmed Benflis.

“We are working with all the chambers of commerce and industries of Pakistan with the purpose of improving  trade and investment among our countries.”
