The victim was picked up from where his workplace and forcefully dragged to his house where he was beaten with rods and electrocuted by the perpetrators.
According to Express News, the neighbours called the police after three hours of the abuse despite hearing the boy's screams the entire time.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the accused tied up on a bed. He had to be carried to the police car as he could not even walk having sustained serious injuries.
The police arrested three of the perpetrators, while one of them has not yet been arrested. They have been identified as Hashim, his nephew Taufeeq and their friend Agha.
The police have also registered an FIR against the attackers.
Hashim had accused the boy of theft and wanted to teach him a lesson himself without getting the police involved.
"This is the first time I managed to catch someone red-handed, so I decided to punish him," Hashim said when being interviewed by a reporter.
The 16-year-old had been accused of stealing Rs400, but the theft has not been proven, Express News reported.
The victim, who is in critical condition, repeatedly denied the charges and said the attackers refused to listen his pleas and continued to torture him. Further, the victim's mother said she has no hope for justice.

@Dr. Abid Shah Mashwani: Sir Are you serious? what if people would punish your father for your crime? would you be happy with that? I am sure you would be...
Stupid freshies. When they do something wrong then its fine and when they see someone else do it then they have excuse to beat them up. Same happens when girl gets molested . Everyone comes to beat the man up even though the person beating them up have done it too. Hypocrites
@Dr. Abid Shah Mashwani: The main difference is that there is an active effort to combat crime and bring accountability in Punjab. That is why there is relative peace, stability and progress in Punjab compared to other places in Pakistan. I am sure that condemnable acts of crime will continue to take place as they do all over the world but rather than play petty politics and score points on human tragedies, people in Punjab see substantive positive changes afoot in their province. That's why media bring to attention anyone in authority whose behaviour is circumspect unlike other provinces where it is accepted or swept under the carpet. That's exactly why you see you see people decrying the bad behaviour a a few MPAs and anyone else who abuses their position of authority. I am sure when ET provides the follow up news to this item, we will hear that criminals are being brought to justice.
People behave as such because there is no law in the country. Corruption, arrogance & ignorance is what its all about. Pakistan is destined to remain in the dark ages as long as it allows this kind of behavior to continue.
I'd wonder if ET will follow up on this and let us know when (and if) something happens to those accused of this crime.
Naya Punjab - yesterday in LAHORE father and brothers stonned a girl to death in the High court premises and no one come to her rescue, same week MPA beating up a doctor as he didnt stand up to MPA, MPA slapping an other MPA because he raised slogan against her leader, and this vicious cycle go on and on. Shame on such a justice system. Instead of just punishing perpertrators only, punish CM, Law Minister, IG, DIG, CPO, Neighbor everyone who could have saved this kid and that girl, and then see how things get better.
So i am sure Shahbaz Sharif will suspend one Police Official to save the face of the system But on the contrary he will never change the system that results in such violence. Also Shahbaz Sharif always suspend some Government official when such incident occur but when it comes to MNAs and MPAs of PMLN then they are the kings and can beat anyone with full impunity. A recent example is the beating of a Doctor by the PMLN MPA who is still roaming around and telling everyone that No one can ever touch him as He is in PMLN and a close friend of Shahbaz Sharif.
Ignorance coupled with a general know-it-all attitude of the citizens of the country results in incidents like these which are so disgusting that one questions even the existence of morality in this country.
Yesterday I was reading about honor killing, today this. I see a very dark tomorrow for Pakistan. It's just disgusting
