Three Nato helicopters flew inside Pakistani territory in Lower Kurram Agency on Tuesday, violating the country’s airspace for the third time.

According to officials, the incident occurred at around 5:00 pm. The Nato helicopters entered up to 600 metres inside Pakistan, including the areas of Borki, Kharlaki and Kurram and hovered in Pakistani airspace for 20 minutes. These areas lie close to the Afghan border.

Officials said that the flight of Nato helicopters spread panic among the locals, who remained inside their houses fearing bombing of the area. A military official told The Express Tribune that it was not an airspace violation, adding that the helicopters were dumping supplies at a check post close to the border —  which the authorities were aware of.

Earlier, on September 30, two Nato helicopters opened fire on a border post in the Kurram Agency, killing three paramilitary soldiers and injuring three others. Pakistan had closed the border with Afghanistan after the incident, halting Nato supplies going through the country. The supply line was restored more than a week after the US tendered an official apology for the cross-border attack on security forces.

Pakistani media should stop portraying that is victims of sovereignty violations and instead focus its resources on the Pakistani government, the criticism of foreign aid packages ( or ” buyout bribes as i deem it” ) and also get to places where the C.I.A is conducting its operations. The people should stop buying corporate products that give the economic power for these military forces to exist. This should be the focus of the media – however and unfortunately true journalism is dead in the 21st century and independent journalist are left scrambling when it comes to raising their voice on issues that really matter.Recommend

    To Mr Akhtar,

An army that has been defeated three times by India? If that is true then technically, your forces should be sitting IN Pakistan but it somehow they are in Indian barracks. I wonder how? It seems blatant that you are just sitting on your couch and making up history. Well done you. If you are literate enough you should be able to see that all NATO helicopters have done is spend 20 minutes in Pakistani air space, most probably obtaining reconnaissance. NATO has aided Pakistan during the flooding and in the past few days. A professional army knows its strength, and it also knows not to bite the hand that feeds it. Kindly reply with credible information and not propaganda.Recommend

@ Akhter : I agree that the reason behind Pakistan Army’s lack of response is strategic but not because of fear as you put it but because its contra productive to its strategy to maintain ties with both Talibans and America. As these choppers did not react but hovered for about 20 minutes there could be only two possible reasons A) Recon (which I doubt as they have satellites for that) or B) to force a response and pick a fight. therefore the decision not to attack them was a highly sensible one

and about the right to defend, I hope you use the same argument when they attack a few miles inside on your home

    on a different note

These attacks whether drone or otherwise are killing more civilians than the terrorists, this war is so fragile that civilian casualty completely negates the purpose of these strikes the more innocent civilians they kill the more hate and revenge they are breeding. Recommend

    To Mr Akhtar
Your first comment indicates that Pakistan did not attack the NATO helicopters, due to the fact that they will “get a sure defeat”. I am pointing out to you that Pakistan will NOT attack NATO helicopters because they are friendly, allies, associates, accomplices (whichever term you understand).
International pressure on India indeed! Pakistan soundly defeated India in 1965, and further pressed on onto Indian soil and it was Pakistan that was asked to stop by the World powers that were asked to intervene. As I said, kindly stop making up such atrocious historical ‘facts’.
This is my last post as I cannot stoop to your intellectual level and do not wish to turn this news article into an argument. Recommend

I wished your Wise President George Dubliew should have listened to Gorbachov. How sad !!!! But What can be done now? Nothing. Moises those Armies who win a war win it in few days or month or few years BUT 10 years? And specially when your casualities start rising after year 5 is a bad sign. That simply means Your leadership is lying to the Taxpayers in America. You are Losing it .Just like Soviets and British and those invaders came before them. . we all Know what happens to Soviet Union after the Afghan War. We wish you best of Luck Or else Bye bye sovereignty crusaders. How many states became independent of the Soviet Union Moises? will end on a Note that “Afghanistan is THE GRAVEYARDS of EMPIRES ! Ohhhh Copper… How Innocent you are..??? Or are you just pretending? I am surprised that you are asking the question ” Where is pakistani Professional Army”? ahh Cooper, let me ask you this? Where is the Biggest war Machine of the world in the bordering areas of pakitsan and Afghanistan? are they present there? where are their forward bunkers once they build and had to vacate after heavy attacks by Taliban? After they killed 9 in one attack in one incident, all those bunkers are gone empty? And you are asking the question where is pakistani Army?where is your army? In barrecks? Killing only Afghan civilians because I don’t see them fighting Talibans? And on top of it More talibans are Kill your soldiers , more you are willing to talk to them. Where is your brave army? Why don’t they fight Taliban? It will be even foolish to ask where Pakistan army is? Pakistan Army is securing Your Life line that is your SUPPLY LINE. Without which Talibans will devour you within no time. And you want to fight Pak army now to cut your own supply line? Well, I can see What caused your defeat in Vietnam, Copper? Perhaps the same strategy?. Hillarious..And there is One more thing , your SPECIAL Friends who are hiding under disguise under your umbrella in Afghanistan will have to leave Afghanistan as they did when Soviets were defeated there. @ Akhtar
In 1947 India launched a very clever, stage managed invasion of Kashmir; using aircraft and land transport to transport their units. In response Pakistan urgently mobilised irregulars (and some regular troops) to counter the move. In what should have been a walk over, India suffered badly – losing 1/3 of the state they should have just strolled into. Not exactly the stupendous victory you ellude to dear chap!

In 1965, on paper it could be considered a stalemate as neither army was able to push home their advantages. India failed to do this in the early hours of the conflict. This later made Gen Chaudhary look like an idiot who had promised to have tea at the Lahore Gymkhana. Nor the Pakistanis, who had managed to destroy in excess of 120 Indian tanks at Chawinda. Strategucally however, whenyou consider the sizes of the forces involved (Pak was approximately 1/3rd India’s size), then its quite clear the Indians shoud have been able to do more, much more than they did. Fortunately (or unfortunatley, depending on which side you slant), the Pakistanis did a bloody good job defending their land and halting the Indian juggernaut. And yes, the Indians sought international assistance when they noticed the Chinese were positioning their troops along the Indo-Chinese border – 1962 again? It was definitely believeable for the Indians, hence call to the UN and the Russians.

So simplify this Indian ‘advnace’ only stopping at Lahore gates because of international pressure – would demonstrate either your naivity or arrogance to the events that unfolded then. Furtrher, it most definitely illuminates sheer ignorance of the troops (YOUR Indian troops) who perished without any acknoweldgement to their plight. Oh dear – poor buggers!

In 1971, granted that was clearly an Indian victory. But then again, what would you expect? 95,000 defending Pakistani troops, against a 300,000 attacking Indian force, with an estimated 45,000 rebels/traitors (again choose the word you would describe the Mukhti Bahani) hiding amongst the civilian populations.

So facts are there – distort them as much as you may wish, but on the face of it dear man, the score would read Pakistan 2 India 1 – touche and tally ho!Recommend

This sovereign violation continues unabated and our leaders are not in the least bit concerned about it. The so-called war on terror has continued for nine years and Pakistan is being dealt the rough end of the stick.

You forgot that even though Pakistan lost the war, it won the air war despite being in the disadvantage!
