Suspected suicide bomb explosion in Islamabad kills one, injures another

The injured man has been shifted to Polyclinic hospital for treatment. Security officials have sealed off the site.

ISLAMABAD:
A suspected suicide bomber blew himself up in the parking lot of Super Market, near Shaheen store in sector F-6, Islamabad early on Saturday morning, Express News reported.

Officials from the Kohsar police station said that a local security guard at the super market had intercepted a suspicious person just before the blast. The suspected bomber was killed and the security guard was critically injured. He was shifted to the Polyclinic hospital.

The police did not remove the body of the suspected bomber for nearly 30 minutes.

At the time of the blast no stores were open in the market place and the area was quite deserted.

Shortly afterwards, a heavy contingent of police, security forces, and rescue services descended on the blast site and sealed off the area.

A bomb disposal squad had also reached the site with sniffer dogs to determine the nature of the blast.


Police forensic teams were also been summoned to the site to collect evidence.

Meanwhile, IG Aftab Cheema has said that super market blast was not suicidal. It was made through a timed device.

G-9 Markaz blast

There were also reports of a second blast in a car near Karachi Company in G-9 Markaz. However, no injuries were reported.

The blast in a car at G-9 markaz was done by explosives, sources claimed.

Owner of the car has been identified as Fawad.  The car was left outside a showroom two days back.
