Rule of law: Court asked to elevate six judges

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) was approached on Friday to award seniority to six district and sessions judges, whose elevation as judges of the SHC after imposition of emergency in 2007, was declared as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court (SC) in 2009. The petition was filed by advocate Muhammad Nadeem Khan and cited the secretary of the federal ministry of law, justice and parliamentary affairs and the parliamentary committee on the appointment of the judges to the superior courts as respondents. According to the petitioner, six district and sessions judges were appointed as additional judges of the SHC after November 3, 2007. But, the SC declared such appointments as unconstitutional on July 31, 2009.
