ISLAMABAD:

An abandoned and undecided inquiry of 62 Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials, who were blacklisted for alleged corruption, has now resumed a year after the body’s inquiry officer sought reports from directors of all FIA zones.

FIA officials told Express Investigation Cell that the organisation’s inquiry officer Additional Director General Liaquat Ali Khan forwarded letters, to all zonal offices asking for requisite information of the identified officials.

The interior ministry last year asked the FIA headquarters to ensure internal accountability. Following such a directive, the FIA’s internal accountability wing had prepared a list of 62 officials involved in corruption.

These officials had been gradually removed from their postings and later blacklisted following a directive on August 28, 2013 to begin an inquiry against them. Since then, the inquiry has been pending.
