Interior ministry declares 4 central jails in Sindh as high security prisons

Trials of terrorists, extortionists, target killers arrested under PPO will be held inside these jails.

ISLAMABAD: After getting approval from the Sindh government, the interior ministry issued a Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO), declaring the central jails in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana and Sukkur high security prisons, Express News reported on Monday.

Terrorists, extortionists and target killers arrested under the Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) will be kept in these jails and their trials will also be conducted inside these prisons.

Testimonies will be recorded via video links and measures will be taken for the security of lawyers as well as witnesses.

Division of Sindh

According to the PPO, Sindh has been divided into 8 zones: South Zone Karachi, East Zone Karachi, West Zone Karachi, CID CUT Karachi, Hyderabad Range, Mirpurkhas Range, Sukkur Range and Larkana Range.

Each zone will have a separate joint investigation team whose supervisors have already been appointed.
