MANSEHRA:

The court of a magistrate on Sunday extended the physical remand of three men, two of whom are accused of raping a college student.

On May 12, Parveen Bibi* was duped by her friend into going with her in a car where two men, including a seminary teacher, allegedly raped her and then left Parveen stranded in the middle of a road near Ghazikot Township.

The police later arrested the two alleged rapists along with the driver and Parveen’s friend and sent the men on a four-day physical remand. Parveen’s friend, meanwhile, was put behind bars.

The accused were produced before Magistrate Amir Afridi on Sunday and on the request of the police, their remand was extended for another day.

Following protests against the incident, police added section seven of the Anti-Terrorist Act. They would be produced before the court in Abbottabad on Monday.
