Reunited: Police recover kidnapped boy, arrest kidnappers

The police on Friday recovered 14-year old boy kidnapped for ransom from the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station.


Police spokesperson said that Muhammad Asif was kidnapped on February 2 this year from outside his house.

The kidnappers demanded Rs20million from Asif’s family but later reduced the demand to Rs1million.

A team led by Rawal Division Superintendent of Police Karamatullah Khan traced the kidnappers and arrested five of them. The police also recovered the kidnapped boy.

Meanwhile, an FIR for bomb blast outside a food outlet was registered against unknown persons. According to the police, extortionists allegedly planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The motorcycle with the IED was parked outside the Savour Foods on the College Road that went off at 9:51 pm injuring at least 20 persons. The police said that 1 kilogram of explosives was used in the blast. The owner of the outlet was receiving threats after he had refused to pay extortion money.

The injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital and Combined Military Hospital. According to doctors, all the injured were stable while eight of them have been discharged.
