A significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices is expected in Pakistan over the next fortnight due to a drop in global oil market prices and a decrease in the import premium on petrol, Express News reported on Wednesday.

Sources indicate that petrol prices could decrease by as much as Rs3.5 per litre, while high-speed diesel might drop by Rs7 per litre.

These price adjustments are in line with changes in international oil prices, which have seen a decline of around $1.5 per barrel for petrol and $3 per barrel for diesel in the past two weeks.

As of now, the ex-depot price of petrol stands at Rs 252.63 per litre. The final price adjustment will be confirmed on May 15, 2025, when official calculations based on the current tax rates are made.

The reduction in fuel prices comes as the global market has shown signs of easing, bringing down both import premiums and international crude prices.
