The court of additional sessions judge has ordered to register a case against the Chamkani police station SHO for allegedly detaining a lawyer for two days.
Shah Faisal Uthmankhel and Abdur Rauf Afridi, counsels for petitioner Shahid Khan, told the court their client was arrested by the SHO around 20 days back.
Advocate Faisal told the court that under the law, the police is required to produce the accused before the court within 24 hours of the arrest but his client was illegally charged in a case and then released after two days.
“Khan belongs to the profession of law and has never been involved in activities that go against the law,” he added, requesting the court to issue an order against the SHO for detaining the lawyer.
Additional Sessions Judge Kalim Arshad then ordered to register a case against the accused for illegally detaining a man and fabricating a case against him.
In another case,a single-member bench of the Peshawar High Court summoned former food minister Ghafoor Khan Jadoon and his son Javed Khan Jadoon for allegedly occupying a factory in Gadoon, Swabi district and firing its staff.
Petitioner and CEO of Frontier Steel Mills Abdur Rashid Yousafzai’s counsel Advocate Ishaq Ali Qazi told Justice Yahya Afridi the Jadoons, who were business partners of his client, took over the mill in April 2005 and then fired the staff. Despite a complaint being filed against them, they did not appear before the court, added Qazi. The counsel said his client was not receiving any profit from his own mill.
