ISLAMABAD:

Stamp paper sellers are allegedly creating artificial shortages and overcharging people at the Islamabad district courts.

Stamp paper is required for a number of official documents and the ‘shortage’ was creating many problems.

Instead of selling stamp paper at face value  — Rs5, Rs10 and Rs20 — they were being sold from Rs50 to Rs100.

“Not a single stamp paper for Rs5 or Rs20 is available. I need them for the undertaking of my educational certificate,” said Hassan Ahmed, a university student.

An Islamabad Capital Territory Administration official assured that the action would be taken against offending vendors. He also encouraged the public to report such vendors.
