DI KHAN:

Thousands of people took to the streets in Tank district to protest against load-shedding on Thursday.

The protesters started marching from City Police Station and moved towards Traffic Chowk where speakers addressed the demonstration.

Leading the demonstrators, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Dawar Khan Kundi said he will do whatever is in his power to resolve the issue of load-shedding and raise the concern in parliament.

The protesters also set tyres on fire and blocked the main DI Khan-South Waziristan road while shops and educational institutes remained closed. They raised slogans against Wapda, the district government and the provincial and federal governments.

“We have been protesting since so long but nothing has been done so far. We only have two to three hours of electricity in a day,” said Attaullah.

The protesters dispersed after the district government officials reached Traffic Chowk and assured them that load-shedding will be reduced to 10 hours in the city and 12 hours on its outskirts.
