Affirmative call: Energy crisis will soon be over, says Shahbaz

CM said, the foundation stone of the country’s first solar power park had been laid in Bahawalpur.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday the government had started several power projects to steer the country out of the dark.

Speaking to parliamentarians and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office-bearers, he said the energy crisis had worsened due to poor polices of the previous government.

“Instead of working for the welfare of the people, the last government favoured corruption and nepotism,” he said.

Sharif said the power crisis had affected several sectors, including the economy, agriculture and industry and the government would honour its commitment and rid the nation of electricity load shedding.

He said the foundation stone of the country’s first solar power park had been laid in Bahawalpur; 1,000 megawatts would be generated through the project. “It will start producing 100 megawatts in December,” he said.

The chief minister said work on a 1,320 megawatts coal-based power project would start in Sahiwal this month.
