KARACHI: A Navy officer was shot dead in Karachi on Monday, Express News reported.
Unidentified armed men riding a motorbike targeted Ghulam Akbar on Shahrah-e-Faisal and left him critically injured. Akbar was being taken to a hospital for medical assistance when he died on the way.
According to Akbar’s wife, who was with him at the time of the incident, he was shot in the head.
Initial investigation revealed that a 9mm gun was used in the attack.
The motive of the attack and other details are not known as yet.
Earlier in April, the driver of a Navy officer was shot dead in the city. The driver suffered five to six bullet wounds, making police officials suspect the incident was a targeted attack. It was not clear, however, if the driver was the intended target of the attack or the Navy officer.

Completely agree with Kanwal. There is an anti-shia element that's brewing within Pakistan Navy. Ask any navy officer and he'll tell you the same.Ironically, this does not exist in the Pakistan Army or Airforce yet. The Army and Airforce currently teaches it's soldiers/ pilots that unity within the force is above shia-sunni sects or being urdu-speaking, punjabi, sindhi, pathaan or balochi. The way things are going, this will eventually change and that is when the Pakistan bubble will burst!
The national song of Pakistan should be ..killing me softly... these random acts of killing continue in a manner that has left the public desensitized about the loss of a human life. Is it not time to ban motorcycles - where attacks on lawyers - doctors - nationalistic institution are constant. Pakistan is miniscule for a country that has many cities that is a bogus claim to make a country with more cities does NOT justify the horrendous killing that occur daily in all cities and outskirts. The rich have their security guards and high fences and the poor are exposed to all the dangerous action because its fellow citizens will & won't do any thing to protect them!
Very strange .......!!!! The News Headline also depicts the picture of 9mm bullet. Hope this type of news projection is avoided as it hurts the feelings of the berived family and friends.

Wrong news on Tribune, he was a naval cook at Karsaz from district Jhang in Punjab
Natha khan goth near Karsas is the breeding ground of criminals activities...but so far no targeted operation done..it seem it is protected by LEAs
@Kanwal:
How in the world you concluded that Late Ghulam Akbar was shia ? Were you his kin ? stop trolling.
No one is safe until everyone is safe!!

killing of any human being is extreme crime so this killing is also extreme crime but how is it different from any other killing which happens in Karachi and doesn't get headlines... just because someone become our defender (and was killed the same way we are being killed) has to get the headlines?
Tribune is keeping its staff safe. Never mind publishing the full name of the murdered man. How many naval officers have been killed for belonging to shia sect in last months and year? Never mind. Move on. Bring the next one.
Pity a city where there is no value for a human life. Alas but what should one do if a country has many such cities? Sad days, my Pakistan :(
