Troubled family: Woman booked for poisoning children

Wife said he (husband) had grown addicted to drugs, taken another wife and had not been meeting his obligations.

FAISALABAD: Police on Sunday registered a case against a woman who had poisoned her three children in Faisalabad on Saturday. Aiman*, 5, and Sidra*, 3 died and Shabbir*, 7, fell unconscious after Samina*, 27, gave them food laced with poison. Samina said she had been dejected on account of the conduct of her husband Muhammad Asif*. She said he had grown addicted to drugs, taken another wife and had not been meeting his obligations. Nishatabad Station House Officer Yar Muhammad Wattoo told The Express Tribune that the case had been registered under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said Samina would be presented in court on Monday (today).

The names have been changed to protect identity.
