To express solidarity with the Pakistan army, All Parties Coordination Council Azad Jammu and Kashmir, headed by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Abdur Rashid Turabi, observed a Solidarity Day with Pakistan army across the region.
The main rally in this connection was led by Prime Minister AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed and proceeded from the Centre Press Club to Gharipan Chowk.
Addressing the gathering, the AJK premier maintained that the armed forces were the defenders of the nation. “We want to convey it to both Pakistan army and other institutions that we are with them”.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir Abdur Rashid Turabi, in the same vein said that Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif’s statements proved that both the political and military institutions were on the same page when it came to the Kashmir dispute, which gave encouragement to the people fighting for the cause.
APHC leader G M Safi added that the COAS’s statements influenced the Indian occupied Kashmir in such a way that majority of the population refused to cast their votes in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts.
“Sometimes mere statements play pivotal role to change the public opinion and General Raheel’s statement did just that for the people of Indian Jammu and Kashmir,” Safi added.
