An 18-year-old student of O’ Levels was shot dead while he was studying in his balcony at around 2am on Thursday. The young man, SL*, was targeted allegedly by a police officer’s son who came to S’s house along with five police constables to settle an argument.
According to investigation officer Mobin, Sakrand Training Centre SSP Ghulam Sarwar Abro’s son, SA, came to SL’s house in a privately owned Vigo on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer in DHA while the latter was studying for his O’ level English paper. The group entered the house and opened fire using their officially issued Kalashnikovs, said Mobin.
SL’s brother Zeeshan Lashari, who was on the second floor of the house when the firing started, said he found his brother covered in blood after being hit in the chest and neck. Zeeshan told The Express Tribune that the firing continued for nearly 10 minutes.
The guards deployed at SL’s house retaliated and Zeeshan also joined in after getting his weapon from his room. After the group fled, Zeeshan looked around for the car keys to take his brother to the hospital but realised that it was already too late. “I saw him smiling and then he waved at me,” Zeeshan remembered. “He said goodbye to me and I saw him die in front of my eyes.”
SA was also injured in the exchange of fire and one of his police guards, constable Zaheer Ahmed, was killed. SA, who was also shot, is critically injured and admitted at Ziauddin Hospital. The exchange of fire also left SL’s guard, Ali Bugti, injured.
SSP Investigation Faizullah Karejo told The Express Tribune that the two young men had known each other and the incident was a follow-up of a previous argument. “The two boys had an altercation two days ago and this incident was a continuation of it,” he claimed.
An FIR No. 235/2014 has been registered by Zeeshan Lashari at the Darakhshan police station against SA and the four police constables - Muhammad Rasheed, Yasin, Maqbool and Imran - who accompanied him. The name of the deceased police constable has not been added in the FIR, which includes Sections 302, 324 and Anti-Terrorim Act Section seven. The four surviving policemen have been arrested by the police, while SA will be arrested when he recovers from his injuries. The police have also seized the Vigo and the weapons.

@Jibran: Sidekicks like you overlooked the fact that had Shahzeb wanted to take a violent action, he would never have went ahead alone. I am merely employing common sense. Sure, spin up a new story now.
@ Zeba -- You may be right and you can arguve but they most likely belonged to feudal backgroud or just the mind set. Bottom line is that many of these feudals are beyond rule of law. I have seen good Zameendars also, but the problem is many of these treat their hari like pests and try to duplicate the lifestyle in a city. Law should be equal for everyone.
Can express group do a story on what happened in the previous such cases? Shahzeb, the security guard at a DHA cinema..even the media is to be blamed for only highlighting the issue but not following up to let people know of what happens say 1 year later..was justice served if not why? It is at this stage that the real culprits are found
It is expressed no where in this article that either of the boys belonged to a feudal background, just because they are Sindhi doesn't make them feudal landlords. Kindly get your facts straight !
The SSP needs to be removed from office and how in the world can he afford a "Vigo " on a Police SSP salary ...
Gun culture in this country is horrifying. So much glorification... People claiming AK is part of our culture. All nonsense.
Government has to conduct a buyback program and clamp down on production centers. Imagine--- heavy weapons in main cities. What a joke.
People and Government are both responsible. Time to end gun culture!
I would suggest a resolution in provincial assembly followed by a Act to severely punish public servents miss using power
Parents of both these boys should be taken to court. What are they teaching their kids?!?! Ubelievable!
What is matter, we still living in stone ages, Jungle In this case SSP should be arrested along with his son, he is responsible all this mess Thanks to ET ,focus this incident
What right does the son of a police officer have to take four constables with him? What was entered in the duty register about these constables? Who gave the constables permission to leave the Police Station in a private Vigo? The situation is very sad. The Home Minister should resign because in the finality it is his responsibility to ensure that public servants are not used to settle private matters.
Exactly what Shahzeb tried to do 4:00 in the morning, but his opponent turned out to be too vigilant for him. Now in the recent event, had the killer son of the gun been on the receiving end, PTI and social media would have gone viral.
Feudalism is a cancer that is the cause of most evils in Pakistan.
Don’t have a word for loss of young lives. This was the result of non governance in our country. Powerful people can get rid of anyone. They know nothing will be happened to offenders as accountability does not exist in our society. I believe parents of both families are fully accountable as ammunition and government resources were available for abuse by young children’s. Please think where we are going.
Another saien killed another saien. Another case where guard will be scapegoats of these illiterate landlords. I wish I will ship them back to there gaow
