ABBOTABAD:

Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai has said the provincial government is committed to eradicating corruption from the province, and to help make this a reality, the government will soon table an accountability bill in the assembly, claimed the minister.

Tarakai was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Mother and Child Health Programme on Tuesday.

Abbottabad is among the ten cities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa where this programme is meant to provide financial and medical assistance to pregnant women.

He ordered an investigation into the appointment of medical officers and promotion of registrars at Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. Tarakai also announced upgrades for Benazir Shaheed District Headquarters Hospital to Divisional Headquarters Hospital.

The government has been filling the shortage of doctors with new appointments so people can be provided healthcare facilities in their own areas and do not have to travel long distances for treatment, added the health minister.
