KARACHI: A district and sessions court acquitted on Monday two men for a gang rape during the second trial of the case. Ahmed Saba, the district and sessions judge in district South, pronounced the verdict, acquitting both men, Manawar Hussain and Ghulamullah alias Mor Zado, of the charges. In 2010, the court had awarded life imprisonment to one out of the 11 suspects in the case, while six others were acquitted. Hussain and Ghulamullah were on the run till the court announced the verdict. Following the judgment, they surrendered before the court. The 11 suspects, along with their three absconding accomplices, were charged with kidnapping 18-year-old NL* from her house in Ghotki in January 2007 and subjecting her to sexual assault. One of the suspects, Loung Khan, was released on bail and he later died in a car accident. On March 20, the counsels had concluded the arguments against the suspects in the second trial.
