The 5th Youm-e-Shuhada (Day of Martyrs) is being observed in Pakistan on Wednesday to commemorate those who have given their lives for the country.

In remembrance and appreciation for those who have passed away in their valiant efforts towards curbing terrorism, the hashtag #MartyredPakHeroes has been the top trending topic in Pakistan for most of the day.

Here are a few tweets honouring the sacrifice of the armed forces:

Remembering the non-military heroes too

While there was overwhelming sentiment towards the armed forces, many also remembered the sacrifices rendered by other segments of Pakistan's law enforcing agencies and members of the public.

Many gave some, some gave all...

May God bless all of our men and women in uniform and the countless civilians who gave up their lives.
