Nawaz hopes dialogue process will yield positive results

The Premier says that the visit will further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Britain.

LONDON: The stability of Pakistan would be protected said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after he arrived in London on Tuesday. He expressed the hope that the dialogue process would yield positive results.

Nawaz is in London on a three-day official visit to UK on the invitation of his British counterpart David Cameron.

"If the peace is established through talks, the lawlessness and carnage are controlled, it is a good thing," he said.

The whole world, he added, adopted such mechanisms and referred to the UK's history by saying that the host country had also resolved her issues with Ireland.

Commenting on the Karachi's situation, the Prime Minister said soon after assuming responsibilities of the government, they took measures for the restoration of peace in the port city.

"We did not waste time. We took all the parties on board. Through operation, the situation in Karachi is being controlled. Peace in Karachi is dear to us as it is an economic hub and commercial center of Pakistan and we are paying special attention to it," he added.

The prime minister said every possible step will be taken for the progress and prosperity of the country, Radio Pakistan reported.

Talking to media, Nawaz said he hoped the three day visit will further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Britain.

Earlier, on his arrival, Nawaz was received by the special representative of the British Foreign Secretary. Officials of Pakistan High Commission were also present on the occasion.

The premier is accompanied by the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During his visit, the prime minister is expected to hold discussions with his British counterpart on matters of bilateral interest.

He will also address an Investment Conference and meet chief executives and investors from the financial and energy sectors and apprise them of the improving business environment in Pakistan apart from meeting members of the Pakistani Diaspora in UK.
