RAWALPINDI: With rise in mercury, the spectre of load-shedding has raised its head again as residents of Rawalpindi are subjected to 12 hours of power cut everyday.

Businesses dependant on electricity have been particularly affected. “Where is the chief minister who told us to change his name if he failed to control the issue in a short span of time,” asked Assadullah, a resident of Ganjmandi.

“The areas where power theft is rampant are facing 20 hours of load shedding,” told Arslan Ahmad, a shopkeeper in the Raja Bazaar. When contacted, Islamabad Electric Supply Company Director Operations Fiaz Hussain said “we are carrying out load-shedding as per the allotted quota.”

He assured the situation will improve soon as they will bring it down to eight hours a day.
