Symbolic poetry: Shabana Zaidi’s book launched at RAC

Raja Muhammad Hanif said that poets not only highlight social issues, but also present a soft image of the country.

The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with Bazm-e-Ahle Qalam and Nigarish International arranged the book launch of “Ik Shahir Basa Pani Pr” by Shabana Zaidi.


Member Punjab Assembly Raja Muhammad Hanif presided over the ceremony, where Dr Waheed Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi Awan and Nasir Ali Syed were the guests of honor, said a press release.

Speakers including Dr Farhat Abbas, Shaukat Hyat, Naseem Saher, Samina Gul and Mazhar Masood threw light on the book terming it a wonderful addition to the Urdu literature.

Later, a poetry recital was held in which 35 poets including Ziauddin Naeem, Ahmed Zahoor, Mehmooda Ghazia, Kaleem Ehsan, Rashida Maheen, Afrasyab Kamil, Dr Rashid Mateen, Yousaf Aziz, Nasir Aqeel, Jia Ali, Atiq Chishti, Shahzad Azhar and Sarmad Saroosh presented their poetry.

Raja Muhammad Hanif said that poets not only highlight social issues, but also present a soft image of the country.

RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed presented a vote of thanks.
