KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted three more weeks to the secretaries of the inter-provincial coordination ministry and the cabinet division to file their comments on the establishment of the provincial Higher Education Commission (HEC). Headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, the bench warned that no extension will be granted in the future. The hearing on Thursday was the seventh hearing on three identical petitions filed by former HEC chairperson Prof Dr Attaur Rehman, the Pak-China Foundation and lawyer Nadeem Shaikh. The petitions were filed against the Sindh government’s decision to establish its own HEC, arguing that doing so is against the provisions of the law.
