Law and order: 11 killed in three districts

As many as 11 people were killed in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday.


Police said bodies of three brothers were found lying near the cement factory in Kot Mubarak, Dera Ghazi Khan.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Bakhsh, Muhammad Shafiq and Muhammad Sajid.

Khuda Bakhsh, their father, told police that he had received a call from an unfamiliar number that his sons had been killed and their bodies had been dumped at the cement factory square.

Kot Mubarak Station House Officer Mirza Safdar said initial investigations had revealed that one of the victims had married Siddiq Jiyani’s sister against his wishes. He said Jiyani was the top suspect in the investigation.

In another incident, also in Kot Mubarak area, Muhammad Shafi Lashari was killed by unidentified men riding a motorbike. Police said he may have been shot over a family rivalry.

In Minchanabad tehsil of district Bahawalangar, three people were killed by unidentified men over a 10-ten-year dispute over property.

Police said the shooting occurred near Sadiq Ganj Market early in the morning.

They said four people were shot, killing two died on the spot. The other two were taken to a hospital where one of them died

Meanwhile, in Multan, two people were murdered in separate incidents.

Police said a rickshaw driver was killed by his cousin over a property dispute. Following the incident, some people blocked Nawabpur Road in protest against the police for delay in arresting the suspects.

In other incident, a 26-year-old wan was allegedly shot by her in-laws over a dowry dispute in Usmanadabad.

Gulgasht SHO Nadeem Abbas said the police had detained the suspects.

He said so far the police had no evidence to link his in-laws to the murder.

In Sahiwal, a man killed a cousin for refusing to marry him.

Kaso Waala police have arrested the suspect who they say has confessed to the crime.

In another incident, a 19-year-old boy was killed by a stray bullet. His body was handed over to his family after autopsy.
