Despite showing some promise in the opening races of the Formula One season, Williams driver Felipe Massa is adamant that luck has not been on his side.

“I feel I’ve started well, in terms of pace and in terms of everything, but I was not lucky,” he said.

“What happened in the first race was nothing to do with me. What happened in the last race was something in the pit stop and in Bahrain I was fighting for third and fourth, and after the safety car I was eighth.”

The Brazilian has amassed 12 points in total after four races, with two seventh-place finishes in Malaysia and Bahrain. But an early accident in Australia and a scrappy pit stop in China have cost him some valuable points.

The driver believes his performances after joining Williams have been good but bad fortunes have marred the results on paper

“There are so many points that I lost,” he added. “Not because I was not able to get them, but because I was unlucky. I’m frustrated for what has happened at so many races up to now.”
