Roadside bomb blast in Balochistan injures DSP, his guard

According to security officials, there was an exchange of fire between police and assailants.

QUETTA:
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and his guard were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded on Tuesday near their patrolling vehicle on a highway near the Mir Hassan area of Nasirabad district.

Nasirabad police said that the bomb was detonated via a remote after the vehicle of DSP Chattar Abdul Ghaffar passed by. The vehicle was damaged in the explosion.


Heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area. After the blast, armed men opened fire at the police vehicle and an exchange of fire took place.

“There was exchange of fire between the police and the assailants,” a security official said.

The injured were shifted to state-run hospital Dera Murad Jamali for medical treatment.  Mir Hassan area is one of the highly sensitive areas in Nasirabad district.
