Funding Education: IDB to fund AJK schools revamping

180 primary, 45 middle and 52 high schools were among 277 educational institutions that would be revamped.

MUZAFFARABAD: The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will provide Rs4 billion to the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for promoting education in the region. AJK Education Minister for Schools Mian Abdul Waheed told The Express Tribune that the education package from IDB shows that the donors trust the PPP government in the state. He said education was the top priority of PPP government in AJK. AJK Education Department officials said the grant would be spent on the construction of 1,400 classrooms of 277 schools across the state. They further said that 180 primary, 45 middle and 52 high schools were among 277 educational institutions that would be revamped. Officials said that more than Rs90 million will be spent on the training of the teachers.
