The Lahore High Court on Monday fixed May 15 for final arguments on a petition moved by Syed Ali Musa Gillani, son of former premier Yousuf Raza Gillani, seeking deletion of his name from the exit control list.
Musa’s counsel, advocate Khalid Ranjha, told the court that the interior ministry had put his name on ECL on May 15, 2013, over some allegations against him. He said the Supreme Court had granted Gillani bail in the said case and had not issued directions for his name to be put on the ECL. He said the interim government had put Gilani’s name on the ECL because he had criticised the interim government over the kidnapping of his brother, Ali Haider Gilani. He said Gilani was unable to travel abroad for education and business. He requested the court to issue directions to the Ministry of Interior to immediately remove his name from the ECL. The interior ministry had told the court that they had put Gilani’s name on the ECL on the directions of the ANF because of his involvement in the ephedrine case.
