RAWALPINDI:

A man killed two of his nephews and injured another before dumping their bodies in a forest near Murree on Monday.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Mian Maqbool said the bodies were recovered from Broha near Chattar Park. “They were killed by their uncle, Nadeem Khan.”

Quoting the children’s parents, he said that on Sunday, Nadeem offered to take the children out for a drive at 2:30pm. When they got late, the parents tried to call on Nadeem’s cell phone and found it switched off, after which they registered a report at the City Police Station in Abbottabad, said the SSP.

Investigation Officer Malik Sadaqat said Nadeem had slit the throats of the children, identified as Zain, Mahar and Waqar Ali.

“However, Zain, aged between 7 and 10 years, survived despite the severity of his wounds and managed to reach a nearby road. Passersby called the police and Rescue 1122,” he said.

He said the child was unable to speak due to the injuries but explained the ordeal by writing it down on paper. He wrote that Nadeem had attacked him and his brothers.

He also told rescue officials where to find the bodies of his brothers. He said his uncle thought they were all dead when he left them. The police said they have recovered the dagger used in the incident and the jeep in which the killer had taken the children out.

The police also recovered litigation documents regarding a property dispute that were unrelated to the victims’ family. They have been unable to determine a motive yet.

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Spokesperson Dr Ayesha Ehsaani said external postmortems were carried out. She said the killer slit the throats of all the children. “Although Zain survived, he is still in critical condition and on a ventilator.”

Ziaur Rahman, the children’s father said he did not know of a possible motive. The alleged killer is a cousin of Haleema, his wife and the children’s mother, he said.

The police registered a double murder case against Nadeem and have launched a search operation to arrest him.
