HYDERABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s chief Altaf Hussain has urged Sindhis to wage a joint struggle with Urdu-speaking people against ‘outsiders’ who are de facto rulers of the province. Addressing the book launch of Falsafa-e-Mohabbat (Philosophy of Love) at a local hotel on Sunday, MQM chief came down hard on the country’s establishment for fomenting ethnic strife in Sindh. He criticised the Sindhis for complaining that their resources like oil and gas were being exploited, but doing nothing practical to secure their rights. He said the nationalist leaders have always campaigned against the Urdu-speaking people but did nothing against illegal Afghani immigrants. In his message to Sindhi leadership he said: “Some of you became Sindhis 300 years ago, other 500 to 600 years ago and still the older ones over a 1,000 years ago. We [Urdu-speaking people] became Sindhis 70 years ago.”

Not only the establishment, but other cities in the country have also prospered at the expense of Karachi. Not gonna name any city or ethnicity but we all know which cities have benefited form ethnic and sectarian strife in Karachi. Hence determining which mindset is behind this ruthless game is not so hard
